Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Marcel Riedi is responsible for the SVOX Research & Development department. Marcel received a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich). His doctoral thesis titled, "Controlling Segmental Duration in Speech Synthesis Systems," was based on research for the university’s speech output system. 

After his dissertation, he continued his post-doctoral research as an invited speech synthesis researcher at Advanced Telecommunications Research in Kyoto, Japan. Marcel later worked at AWK Engineering in Zurich, where he concentrated on IT consulting for call center and Internet projects. He subsequently became an IT project manager for Sun Microsystems, where he lead project teams in building new data management centers.

The challenges of bringing text-to-speech technologies, his original field of interest, to the marketplace drew Marcel to SVOX in February 2002.
